Introduction
The first Latin Patriarchate School (LPS) in Jordan was established in 1869 in the city of Salt. Currently, there are 42 schools and kindergartens throughout Jordan. These schools have historically provided, and continue to provide, quality educational opportunities for boys, girls, and children from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs, giving them hope for a brighter future.
The Latin Patriarchate Schools are a major employer in Jordan, with approximately 850 staff members, including teachers and administrative personnel, serving around 10,000 students.
The Latin Patriarchate believes that everyone has the right to a quality education based on sound principles, regardless of family income or economic status. Therefore, the Patriarchate assists families in need and works to maintain schools in remote and financially challenging areas.
Mission/Vision of the Patriarchate Schools in Jordan
The Latin Patriarchate Schools in Jordan welcome students from diverse communities and denominations, providing them with a solid foundation in religious, moral, and academic education. The diocesan schools work diligently towards human and social development, particularly for low-income families, to maintain the population in rural areas and reduce migration to cities and abroad.
Our primary mission is to provide quality education for all, while also ensuring a strong Christian presence in our schools, especially among students committed to our values and capable of contributing to the development of society.
We also focus on fostering a culture of respect and harmony among different communities and religions, creating a culture of coexistence, tolerance, and acceptance among diverse religious groups and backgrounds, thus contributing to preparing them to play a fundamental role in building a healthy civil society.
Tuition fees are affordable, taking into account low-income communities, as we are committed to meeting the needs of marginalized communities. Finally, we are working to cultivate a culture of critical thinking through our educational approach. Instead of rote memorization, we encourage students to practice analytical thinking skills. We also aim to foster students’ character and self-confidence as a result of growing up in a healthy and respectful educational environment, which can serve as a model for equality, peace, and religious coexistence in society. We believe we need to create an environment based on respect that promotes harmony among the different ethnicities, religions, and cultures within the social fabric of Jordan.
