Official Announcement on the Establishment of the Christian Pilgrimage Coordination Office – Jordan

The establishment of this service reflects Jordan’s significant place in Christian history and heritage, as well as the continuous growth in the number of pilgrims visiting the Kingdom’s holy sites. It also comes as part of the preparations for the Jubilee of the Baptism of Our Lord Jesus Christ, with the aim of ensuring that pilgrimage becomes a comprehensive experience of faith and spirituality—one that goes beyond simply visiting holy sites to become a living encounter with the local Church and its communities of faith.
The Christian Pilgrimage Coordination Office – Jordan is a non-profit ecclesiastical body with a pastoral and service-oriented mission. It does not engage in any commercial activities, nor does it replace tourism companies, travel agencies, or tour operators. Rather, it works in cooperation with them within the framework of its ecclesiastical mission to provide pastoral and liturgical support, as well as Church coordination, for pilgrims.
As the Catholic Church in Jordan announces the establishment of this Office, it looks forward to constructive cooperation with governmental and official institutions, tourism authorities, organizations concerned with religious and cultural heritage, and all relevant partners. Such cooperation will contribute to strengthening Jordan’s position as a global destination for Christian pilgrimage, dialogue, and human encounter.
