After visiting those injured in the cowardly terrorist attack in the town of Hammoud, His Excellency Bishop Iyad Twal celebrated Holy Mass this evening at St. Michael’s Parish in Smakieh, in the presence of Fr. Khaled Qamouh, Secretary General of the Latin Patriarchate in Jordan, Fr. Wajdi Twal, the parish priest, and Deacon Za’al Hijazin.
On the Feast of Our Lady of Palestine, the faithful raised prayers for the martyrs and for the injured in hospital. In his homily, His Excellency affirmed that in these harsh moments feelings of fear, anger and confusion may rise within us, but as believers we hold fast to our hope in God, who does not abandon His children in their hour of trial. He stressed that we reject violence in all its forms, and that we will not let bullets steal our hope, nor let hatred find a place in our hearts.
